Spectacles Silver Stamped Antique Round 1800's Turn Pin Legs Drop Loop Finials Eyeglasses Frame Georgian Reenactment Sterling Coin Half Moon

Silver stamped pair of antique hand crafted spectacles from the 1800's, found in Europe. I estimate it was made between 1850 to 1890 given the design with turn pin legs, drop loop finials and an X-bridge. The condition is fantastic, but with patina that can be polished off easily.

The frame is fitted with half shaped reading lenses (half moon). I imagine this frame was typically used on sundays in church, reading the bible up front and looking up to the pulpit.

See the pictures for the stamps. The big stamp on the temple arms show the early tweezer eyeglasses (like on the spectacles cobra) with the letters L, M and upside down a D.

This frame is complete and functional.

The case made of faux horn is included and made of metal covered with a layer of celluloid acetate. It is in good condition, the celluloid has a small crack. The case is not original to the frame, it is probably from later date, however, it looks like a great match.

I did a silver acid test and the material turned out as red as possible: positive.

Sizes:
Lens diameter is 34mm
Distance between lenses is 30mm
Total width is appr. 125mm
