Spectacles Silver Stamped Antique Round 1800's Turn Pin Legs Drop Loop Finials Eyeglasses Frame Georgian Reenactment Sterling Coin
Silver stamped pair of antique hand crafted spectacles from the 1800's, found in Europe. I estimate it was made between 1850 to 1870 given the design with turn pin legs, drop loop finials and an C-bridge.
The condition is good and whole, but with patina that can be polished off easily. There is a crack that I kind of find interesting, as it shows how the silversmith joint the bridge and lens holders together, which is normally not visible. If you don't like this crack, a jewelry maker or gold/silversmith can easily repair it.
See the pictures for the stamps, one on the nose bridge, one on the right temple arm. These stamps are very small. The two round stamps at the back of the nose bridge are deep and don't seem to have a pattern.
One lens seems to have a small reading power, the other is weird because the surface is wobbly and the diopter therefore inconsistent.
The sturdy case made of leather and is of later date than the frame.
Sizes:
Lens diameter is 35mm
Distance between lenses is 24mm
Total width is appr. 122mm
The temple arms are 108mm when folded in and over 164mm when folded out.
