Spectacles Silver Stamped Antique Oval 1880's Turn Pin Legs Drop Loop Finials Eyeglasses Reenactment Steampunk Sterling Coin Great Condition

€210.00

Silver stamped pair of antique hand crafted spectacles from around the 1870's, found in France. I estimate it was made between 1860 to 1890 given the design with turn pin legs, drop loop finials and an X-bridge. The condition is fantastic, the bit of patina can be polished off easily. The original case is included.

The frame is fitted with reading lenses of appr. +2 diopter.

See the pictures for the stamps. The big stamp on the temple arms show the early tweezer eyeglasses (like on the spectacles cobra) with the letters L, M and upside down a C.

This frame is complete and functional and can even be used today.

The paper case has a label saying Dartige Opticien, Rue de Poëliers, Angers. I found an advertising from 1898, there with street number, so probably of later date than the eyeglasses/case.

I did a silver acid test and the material turned out as red as possible: positive.

Sizes:
Lens width is 36mm, height is 25mm
Distance between lenses is 29mm
Total width is appr. 121mm
The temples arms are 105mm when folded in and over 165mm when folded out.
