Spectacles Silver Antique 1800's Pin-in-slot Telescopic Sliding Arms Round Eyeglasses Frame Georgian Reenactment Sterling Coin 2.5 Reading
Silver stamped pair of antique hand crafted spectacles from the 1800's, found in Europe, possibly made in England or the USA and I estimate it was made between 1820 to 1860. The frame was polished by the previous owner. The condition is fantastic. The lenses look original, one has an etching, both have a reading power of appr. +2.5 diopter.
See the pictures for the two stamps in the left arm. The biggest stamps in one arms say T LU or I LU or P LU, can't read the upper letter well. Next to it a stamp of a lion (kind of), and a smaller stamp that I can't figure out.
This frame is complete and functional. It has pin-in-slot telescopic temple arms.
I did a silver acid test and the material turned out as red as possible: positive.
Sizes (generally small medium):
Lens diameter is 33mm
Distance between lenses is 23.5mm
Total width is appr. 119mm
The temple arms are 150mm when folded out (5 inch), and 109mm when folded in.
